This month in Milan
The new Milan venue of Fondazione Prada, conceived by architecture firm OMA—led by Rem Koolhaas—expands the repertoire of spatial typologies in which art can be exhibited and shared with the public.
Characterized by an articulated architectural configuration which combines seven existing buildings with three new structures (Podium, Cinema and Torre), the new venue is the result of the transformation of a distillery dating back to the 1910’s.
From October 13, 2018 to January 27, 2019, the Stables of the Visconti Castle in Pavia celebrate Elliott Erwitt (Paris, 1928), one of the greatest masters of contemporary photography, on the occasion of his ninetieth birthday. The Icons retrospective – curated by Biba Giacchetti, organized and produced by ViDi – with Civita Exhibitions and SudEst57 in collaboration with the Fondazione Teatro Fraschini and the Municipality of Pavia - Sector of Culture, Tourism, Education, Youth Policies, collects 70 of his most famous shots , able to offer the visitor a glimpse of the history and customs of the twentieth century, through the typical irony of Erwitt, pervaded by a surreal and romantic vein.
The Refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie houses one of the absolute masterpieces of art in Italy: the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci. The location of this work right in the place where the friars gathered to eat is not taken for granted. It is not trivial to remember that the refectory is located a few steps from the church where the religious listened to the Scriptures and were fed by the Eucharist.
